BEFORE AND AFTER IMAGE- Sydney Skyline Sunrise Pano
Sydney has some absolutely stunning vantage points to shoot cityscape images right on the waters edge. This sunrise pano was taken from Lavendar Bay, near Lunar Park, and it was a perfectly still morning. But even with there being no wind I wasn’t able to get the city reflections I wanted on the water. I tried doing long exposure times from 2-30 seconds and even tried with an ND filter to get crisp sharp reflections. The results were muggy and indistinguishable and its due to things like the tide, waves, boats, current and wind. It’s usually inland or high up on mountain lakes where we find the perfect conditions to get stunning mirror landscape reflections and the water needs to be perfectly still.
VIDEO TUTORIAL- How to create mirror refletion effect
I’ve put together this tutorial in Photoshop to create the effect of a smooth/sharp reflection of a cityscape on this ocean surface. I also did some stylisation in lightroom and in some new photo filter software I have really been enjoying experimenting- Macphun Intensify PRO. It’s got many many photo filters that create amazing effects and changes at the click of a button and you can layer and make adjustments to all of them. If you’re going to get into Macphun photo software I suggest getting the Creative Kit Plus as it is 30% off now
