This is the view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge during the Vivid Festival, 2014, from Luna Park. The Opera House and Sydney CBD can be seen lit up as well in the background. The lights on the bridge itself all change colours! ranging through a series of colours of the rainbow… It makes the entire harbour light up and looks magical. Add to that all these sea vessels passing by draped in coloured lights and the harbour looks like a living christmas tree.

Editing Technique:

HDR Luminance masks using 8 images. I used a high amount of images because I wanted to make sure I could mask out all the people in the foreground and also to have enough to work with my Luminance masks.

For some very thorough Video Tutorials on Luminance masking- Check out this link.

Software Used:

I used my usual suspects on this one as I have grown to like them very much…

– Adobe Photoshop CC – used to layer, mask, make adjusments plus much much more

– Topaz DeNoise 5 – A really powerful noise reduction software add-on. 15% off all Topaz software use discount code LukeZemePhotography

– On1 Perfect Effects – An amazing Filter program to stylise your images. Comes as a standalone filter program which can also be launched from Lightroom, Photoshop or Aperture.

Thanks, Luke
