When trying to find locations to view a city sunset from often you will find places like this where they have been designed for such an occasion. This one was a pontoon type walkway built out on to the river and you can stand on the end of it and look either up or down the river and sit on this “Glowing Seat” which has all this warm light shining out of it. Brisbane is located on a big winding river, shaped a bit like a snake, and there are plenty of spots to sit down and watch wither sunsets or sunrises. I’ve already taken photos from lots of them, but I really like this one because it’s nice and quiet, located pretty far away from any of the major freeways or roads.
On the lefthand side of this image is Southbank and it’s the cultural hub of Brisbane, Australia, and the area is full of restaurants, cafes, galleries and museums ! So yeah, my kind of area 🙂 Then on the right side of this image is the Brisbane CBD and it’s surrounded on 3 sides by the river which loops around it. By taking this image on my DSLR 20-30 minutes after sunset I’m able to get those in between moments where it’s not quite night time yet and the colours of the sunset haven’t quite faded. Photographer’s know this time as the blue hour and it’s particularly good to shoot when there are some interesting shaped clouds in the sky as they have a way of giving your images a bit of extra POP ! 🙂
