There are so many AMAZING views of Sydney Harbour that I feel spoilt for choice and on this gorgeous spring day I headed for the eastern hills. When visiting the beautiful Watson’s Bay I’d driven past this view of the Harbour and found it hard to keep my eyes on the road. So, I decided to return when we got some nice sunset clouds in Sydney and this day was it ! I parked further down the hill near Rose Bay and walked up the hill with my camera gear and on the way you pass this school called Kambala. The classrooms all have this view of the city, even the netball and sports fields have this view. It must be the coolest place to go to school I reckon and would just be inspiring to look out the window at this everyday. When I got up to the top of the hill there were already quite a few photographers there and what must have been a bus load of kids coming home from camp. Some were using tripods whilst others were taking their shots with DSLRs handheld… There were even people stopping and using their smartphones to shoot this sunset, it was that good ! I was lucky that my Feisol Tripod can extend extra tall, well over 2 meters, so then I could shoot over the bushes in this garden in the foreground. There was a church off to the right and I also got some great wide angle shots with it in the frame as well, but my favourite was this image zoomed in right after the sun had gone down. I loved how there was the complete transitions of colours in the frame, giving the full spectrum of the sunset.
I spoke briefly with one of the photographers, Patrick his name was, and he told me about this other location not far from here which never has any competition. I checked it out after I took these and had to battle the mosquitoes so I will return with bug spray next time and share my results with you. Amazingly I saw a FOX ! down there just exploring the waters edge, A FOX in the city… couldn’t believe my eyes 🙂 but I suppose there is a lot of national parks around Vaucluse and Watson’s Bay, so I’m sure it has lots of places to explore and sleep in, thank god ! 🙂
