This spectacular view of Sydney is taken from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, where I was doing some exercise last night. I think it’s one of those things that everyone should try to do at least once in their lives, not exercise! but walk across the bridge :-). It’s everything about the walk that is exciting from the build up of approaching it as it looms above you, the feeling of floating above Sydney Harbour and the Opera House, as well as being surrounded by one of the most monumental structures on the planet. At the moment there is this GIANT cruise shipped moored in Circular Quay and this one is all the way from the Caribbean. Last night was really pleasant with little to no wind on the bridge and a nice warm temp of around 27C or so.
I liked this composition I framed which kind of juxtaposed the concrete city with the green lush tree life in the foreground and hence the title “Jungle City”. There is this kind of coals and bellows by the fire feel to this image with the warm yellow light kind of reaching out from the centre of the image.
Shooting and Processing
This was taken with the Sony A7r with the native FE lens Sony 28-70mm.
I took a bracket of 5 images: -2, -1, 0, +1 and +2EV
I then took the images into the brand new HDR software Photomatix 5 PRO and used the new tonemapping algorithm Contrast Optimizer. The guys at HDRsoft have also offered a free trial for you to play around with but Im pretty sure you will want this software after you get your hands on it.
Photomatix PRO – Is a MAC and PC HDR software for creating stunning HDR images. They have a free trial, but if you end up buying a copy of Photomatix you can get a 15% Discount with the coupon code LukeZemePhotography
