What I love about this image is the old stone wall which borders the bay with the park as it’s made from those huge blocks of sandstone that many of the original buildings in old Sydney Town were constructed from. The sandstone was commonly named “Sydney Sandstone” and it was taken from a quarry in the Hawkesbury River area just north of Sydney. Pictured here is Rushcutters Bay and on the horizon is Darling Point stretching off to the left and is nestled away a mere 15-20 minute walk to Sydney CBD, which is one of the reasons I love it. This is on the south Side of Sydney Harbour and just east of the CBD.
Am I an eastern suburbs boy ? Noooo …. but I could be 🙂 I’ve been exploring Sydney with my mate in an attempt to get an idea of what the different area’s are like and to see which lifestyle suits my art practices. Each has it’s own little bubble of culture separate from neighbouring districts as well all the natural Landscapes to inspire me. We’ve looked at places from Pyrmont to Clovelly and I think I’m attracted to the lifestyles of Elizabeth Bay and Double Bay. You’ve got the city on your doorstep and on the other side of you is the beach. So soon enough this could be my local playground where I can quite easily shoot he sunrises near Circular Quay or head to the rockpools of Bondi Beach.
