a ripple through time, a ripple through space… The world around us is changing at a rapid rate, sometimes too quickly for us to notice…
I’ve found that a great time to do HDR Photography is at night, especially right after the rain as this will make everything shine and reflect all the surrounding light sources. On this particular night the river was flooding around the CBD areas due to a cyclone which had brought with it extreme weather and I’d gone in to town to see how high the river waters had risen. Thankfully for the people who owned waterfront properties the water wasn’t at dangerous levels yet like that of the 2011 floods 2 years before hand, which were devastating.
With my interest satisfied it was time to head home and on my way I noticed this reflection across on its opposite building from one one one Eagle street building, in the Brisbane Eagle Street Pier area, and had to setup my tripod. I wanted to accentuate the height of the skyscrapers and ended up facing the camera, and specifically my ultra wide angle lens, almost straight up. Admittedly I had a small battle with the rain, but eventually I won ! yay… take that rain ! Luke-1 Rain-0. In photography you learn very fast that patience is a virtue, and you will be doing a lot of waiting.
I have titled the final product “The Future” but perhaps a better name might be “TRON” or “Clu” after the 2010 film by Disney “Tron uprising”…. This image really speaks to me as it reminds me of some of my favorite books, which are from the sci-fi and fantasy genres. I had just finished reading “snow crash” and “The forever War” both set in the distant future and I felt like was back inside those stories. I can highly recommend both reads if you are looking for a good sci-fi book by the way 😉
