It was fun shooting down on Coogee Beach yesterday morning as I was using my new Fesiol CT-3372LV RAPID tripod and it was raining too. I arrived about 30 minutes before sunrise at Coogee beach and it was bucketing down with rain and in fact a few kilometres south near Maroubra there was a lightning storm. I did a quick exploration in my rain jacket and found that I could take my camera gear down underneath the awning of the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club. I was planning to shoot the tidal pool but thought I could adapt that plan to some shots out over the sea maybe. I’d already gone to all the trouble of getting up at 5:45am and driving out here so I may as well attempt ‘some’ photography I’d though to myself. Luckily the rain started to die down and I headed down to the ocean tidal pools with my tripod and D800. I was holding my umbrella in one hand over the camera and adjusting the settings on it with the other.
Wylies Baths, in the centre of frame, have to be one of the most scenic ocean tidal pools I’ve ever seen with some really beautiful Australian seascapes up and down the coast. This particular winters morning was chilly and the surf life club members were out in their skimpy togs doing laps and running up and down the beach, brave doesn’t cut it haha.
I think with the storm and the rain around I was able to capture a different side of the well known seascape and I love how the movement in the green ocean water contrasts with that of the cream painted surf club 🙂
