It’s amazing what a couple of red chinese lanterns, the size of small pumpkins, hung across a small bridge can do to a cityscape. This was taken during the Buddha birth day celebrations this week in Brisbane and the area was transformed for the celebrations. The main focus was a stage in Southbank but they had also decorated many of the paths leading into the area. I find it amazing though that just about 30 small light globes can have such a HUGE impact on the light within a scene as all the pinks and reds are from those lanterns. They are those paper ones that just pull out into a sphere and usually have some hanging decorations, super cheap but very effective.
There were some other cool celebrations at the festival including food market, a light giving ceremony, meditation classes and fireworks… and you didn’t have to be a buddhist to join in either as it was all very approachable.
