Water rushed in and out of this arched rockshelf as I stood underneath a candy striped lighthouse. A cool place to be indeed when the sun is setting, as pink clouds stream across the sky! To get here I had to wind my way down a precarious trail through bush and stone. Then make my way up, down and around boulders that stood a good 3 or 4 feet over my head. I didn’t want to stay here too much longer after taking this shot because it was getting dark fast and finding my way back to safety was on my mind. Had an exciting time out here though and loved the view from underneath the lighthouse. The view from on top is also amazing, but I love being down around the water.
Processing and Shooting:
This one, even though it feels like it was made in the water, was shot on a tripod standing right on the edge of the rock shelf. I used my full frame mirrorless Sony A7r with the wide angle Nikkor 14-24mm lens.
HDR images allow you to get lots of detail in the shadows and highlights and to do this I shoot a bracket of images on my camera, then back on my computer I edited them with the brand new HDR software
Photomatix PRO – Is a MAC and PC HDR software for creating stunning HDR images. They have a free trial, but if you end up buying a copy of Photomatix you can get a 15% Discount with the coupon code LukeZemePhotography
Then I used – On1 Photo suite the complete collection of photo editing software from OnOne, to do all my image stylisation.
