Top 10 Best Camera Accessories
This top 10 camera accessories list is full of practical, helpful and fun camera accessories to help make your photography journey a better and more enjoyable experience… I threw in couple of fun, but super helpful suggestions like the Olloclip lense set for your iphone. As well as keeping it practical with ideas like the rocket air blaster, not as fun but necessary to look after your gear.
These camera accessories would all be great gift ideas for any budding young photographer friends that you might have, whether they are just starting out or have been in the game for a while as I’m sure they would put them to good use. You could even throw them into gift baskets, as people like myself always enjoy receiving new technologies as a gift! I talk a little bit about each item and let you know where to get them as well as ranking them in order of my favourites, which was actually harder than you think because I like all of these items. I love having camera accessories!
I didn’t put any price limit on the list as I wanted to share what I know a photographer needs and wants… That said I think you will find that these all range in the cheap to very affordable range! 😉

The LensPen is kind of one of those cool little accessories that you can’t live without once you buy one. It’s actually a smart and efficient system for cleaning your camera and you will find you will never want to leave them behind. If you take care of them, they will easily last you over a year or even longer! A good little investment.
I know this one is not the most exciting suggestion, but they are one of the most valuable camera accessories you can get. I have them scattered throughout my camera bags, coat pockets, everywhere! You can never have enough of these on hand when out in the field shooting. They are extremely soft and are a high-quality microfiber material that absorbs and removes dust, oil smudges, fingerprints, and dirt. These smooth microfiber ones are best for lenses and camera bodies.
There are many cheap and inferior smartphone lenses out on the market but the Olloclip lenses are the best! This particular iphone 6 set comes with 4 different lenses!!! The telephoto, wide-angle, macro and circular-polariser lenses. Photography is getting to the stage where smartphone image quality is starting to compete with DSLR’s and mirrorless cameras so it’s great to have this set to pull out whenever you want. It’s perfect for those moments where you say “if only I had my camera with me”. We’ve all seen the huge apple billboards in our cities with captions under the images saying “Shot with Apple iPhone” and they’re 10, sometimes 20 meters across. This just goes to show the quality of smartphones is really starting to come close to our DSLR’s. Everyone always has a smartphone with them, so this lens set is an almost perfect gift for any photographers you know… and even for yourself. There is a set for the Olloclip iphone 6/6+ as well as a another one for the Olloclip iPhone 7/7+
These are extremely valuable when it comes to protecting your camera lenses out in the field! You can use them for any branded lens like Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, etc. You just need to match up the correct size pouch with your lens. I like these particular brand sets of pouches from Altura as you get various sizes and they have a lot of great features that photographers need. They are made out of a thick water-resistant neoprene material that protects against moisture, sand, dust, and accidental bumps or scratches. They come in a stylish black with either a blue or purple trim, and also come in a variety of sizes and packs. Check them out at the link 🙂
There are lots of air blasters on the market but the Giotto’s Air Rocket is the most popular one for blowing dust and dirt off your camera gear (lenses, filters, camera bodies, tripods… everything!). The rocket in itself is an iconic camera accessory and a must have for all photographers.
Everyone needs a good camera strap and the generic ones you get with your camera (e.g. Nikon, Canon, Sony…) just don’t cut it when it comes to comfort and support. These Peak Design Slide camera Strap‘s are incredibly good value considering the quality and use an excellent clip in and out system for a quick change. They come in a variety of colours and the strong material is fully adjustable to suit everyone’s camera needs. I highly recommend these! Watch the video to see how amazing they are, Peak Design simply make the BEST camera accessories.
These little Polaroid hot shoe spirit level’s are so useful for all photography situations and they fit snuggly into the hot shoe of your camera. Not only are they good quality but they also make you and your camera look super cool, haha. No but seriously there are so many ways that this affordable little accessory from Polaroid can help you straighten out your camera. You might have your camera set up in a way that it’s impossible to know whether or not you have a flat horizon and this is where a spirit level can come in handy. Polaroid does a universal or a Sony version!
You may have seen these around but honestly the Joby Gorillapod is still the original and the best! It comes in handy in many situations where you can’t set up your regular tripod. For me it has come in handy when I’ve been into places that don’t allow tripods, like certain observations decks and rooftop bars where I wanted to shoot a city skyline shot. They are so small and handy to have in your backpack and you can attach the legs to almost any post, rail or object you need to. This version is for mirrorless and dslr cameras and the most versatile version of the Joby Gorillapod
My #1 Pick in my top 10 best camera accessories is a Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet !!! The Bamboo Pen is an extremely affordable gift idea for any budding photographer or artist, plus they are even great for Pro photographers. Editing your photos is such a better experience using a Pen tablet, it just feels more intuitive to be drawing on your photographs compared to the cumbersome use of a mouse. In photoshop we often need to paint a mask in or create a shape and that requires the precision of a Wacom pad. I personally have 2 versions of Wacom Pads, my much larger Wacom Intuos PRO Pen and Touch 5, which I use at my home workstation, and then this Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet which is my little portable Wacom to take out. The Bamboo Pen fits right in with my laptop and it’s nice and light making it easy to take anywhere with me. Everything you need comes right in the box, ready to work with your Windows or Mac computer 😉 It’s a must have for any photographer and that’s why it’s my #1 in the Top 10 Best Camera Accessories.
