Taking shots like this has to be one of my most favourite types of HDR photography to do. There is something about the night and being in a city which excites me, combined with the thrill of being so high up on an open rooft like this is a cherry on top. We were actually staying in this apartment building in the middle of Kuala Lumpur a stroll from Petrona Towers and with this amazing city location looking across to KL Tower (the one poking out like a birthday candle). We actually had a pool on the roof and I was standing just off to the side of it whilst looking down about 35 stories, it was awesome! Below is basically Bukit Bintang and the monorail goes right through here. KL is a city growing at a fast pace and everywhere skyscrapers are being errected. Due to the HOT temperatures in Malaysia during the day a lot of the work is actually done at night. So there was a soft chorus of banging and tapping as construction went on around me whilst I took my shots with the Sony A7r. I had to get my tripod up nice and high and then push it forward, almost off the edge of the building, to get this kind of angle. Well Worth it!
This is a HDR image and I combined 5 frames shot at -2EV, -1EV, 0, +1EV and +2EV using
