I do love a good sunrise at the beach! But wait! this is a man-made beach in the middle of a city. Pictured in the backdrop is the city skyline of Brisbane, Australia, which is the capital city of the state of Queensland. The states motto is “beautiful one day, perfect the next” and the weather here in the summer is HOT. Even though Brisbane was built on a river you can’t actually swim in it as it is unsafe and to top things off the ocean is a good hours drive. So, the city decided to build its on beach smack bang in the middle of the cultural hub, Southbank. The beach has its own lifeguards and it’s a great way for people to spend their lunch break or pop down after they finish work. Nothing better than cooling off at the beach when its a hot day right?

This along with most of my imagery is an HDR photo and I made it using the brand new version 5 of HDR software:

Photomatix PRO 5– Is a MAC and PC HDR software for creating stunning HDR images. They have a trial, but if you end up buying a copy of Photomatix 5 you can get a 15% Discount with the coupon code LukeZemePhotography

I then stylised the image using On1 Perfect Effects which is a part of the full suite:

– On1 Photo suite the complete collection of photo editing software from OnOne .

Throughout editing this image I had to be really careful with the sand. Once you start to become more experienced with HDR photography you will find that snow and sand will be the hardest substances to make HDR images out of. Often the best way to treat these areas is to just mask in from the original files using Photoshop.

Cheers, if you like my work and would like to leave a response you can do that below. Or if you like you can leave a question for me.
