We can imagine how Picasso might have captured a scene like this, but how would Renoir depict it is what I always wonder ?

When ever I’m out in busy restaurants and cafe’s like this where drinks and food are flowing, I always think about Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Painting’s. Strange ? maybe a little ! and it is most likely a symptom of all my years in art studios… Renoir’s impressionist paintings depicted the lively cafe’s in Paris, France, around the 1900’s and the colour’s and energy were so vibrant you felt you were living in them. His paintings are so lucid that you can almost hear the sounds of glasses clinking, the enthusiastic discussions going on along with dancing and music humming over the clatter of busy kitchens.

Surfer’s Paradise is a welcoming city catering for everyone from families to all walks of travelling tourists. Captured here you can see an energetic crowd of people on Friday night enjoying Italian food right in the thick of the CBD. I especially loved this modern metallic sculpture and the way the palm trees were lit up from the blue ringed lights wrapped around their trunks. Towering above everything are a couple of the many High rise Hotels all lined up along the broad beach, the main beach on the Gold Coast.

here is the image captured from down in the middle of the restaurant area though titled “Surfer’s Strip”. For Prints and links to the High Resolution image, just click on the picture below, thanks 🙂

I also wanted to share with you the types of Renoir paintings I think of when in busy restaurants like this.

If you are unfamiliar with his work or need reminding, here is a little montage video of his paintings.

Cheers guys,
